REVIEW: PSYCHO APE

This movie may be one of the shittiest and stupidest films that I've ever seen, but man is it awesome! PSYCHO APE is, well, HALLOWEEN meets KING KONG meets a bunch of other nonsensical bullshit.

The story, such as it is, starts with Nancy Banana's (Kansas Bowling) Teen slumber party turned into an ape-fueled bloodbath when the titular Psycho Ape (Stephen Albers) escapes from the Detroit Zoo to embark on a murderous rampage.

At some point Dr. Zoomis (Bill Weeden) shows up, the zookeeper bound and determined to bring the Psycho Ape to justice. Or kill him. Or something. Hell, it doesn't matter. The main cast was uniformly excellent.

This masterpiece of camp by director Addison Binek is packed to the gills with blood, bananas, poop, puke, boobs, and enough film references to stock a low-rent trivia night at a dive bar. And it has a dog in it. Seriously, what more do you need?

It makes no bones about quality, either- crappy picture, sound, story, acting, editing, you name it, it's awful across the board, but man, that just makes this thing better. It really truly does. I lost count of the laugh out loud moments in this film. This sucker was made with pure joy and it shows!

This a is bad film made bad on purpose, and it takes a real talent to do that and have it land so well. Highly recommended, PSYCHO APE is the movie that you didn't know that you needed, but now that you know about it, you need to see it!
